Gambling affiliates have faced significant challenges since Google's Search update on May 5, reports Steve Ruddock of Casino Reports.
The update primarily targeted affiliate-media partnership deals popular in recent years. These partnerships, once lauded for bringing new depositing customers (NDCs) thanks to the reputation of legacy media sites, have now turned sour as those sites are missing from searches post-update.
Affiliates, which earn by referring customers to operator websites, are now stuck in costly deals with high annual guarantees and unfavorable revenue splits. Despite efforts to clean up content, sources indicate that Google is unlikely to restore these sites in search results.
The impact has left affiliates questioning if the worst is over or if more challenges lie ahead. As of June 20, the situation remains uncertain.
