Description

MT SecureTrade Limited was a significant Malta-based online gaming operator and a key subsidiary of the Gaming Innovation Group (GiG).

Historically, the company acted as the Business-to-Consumer (B2C) and white-label engine for the group, providing the regulatory and technical foundation for numerous casino brands. As of late 2023, the company entered a phase of final dissolution, marking a broader strategic shift by its parent group to exit the B2C market and focus exclusively on B2B software and platform services. Today, MT SecureTrade Limited no longer provides active gaming services.

Historical Role and B2C Operations

At its peak, MT SecureTrade managed a vast portfolio of online casinos, including high-profile names such as Rizk.com, Guts.com, Dunder, and ShadowBet. It operated under prestigious licenses from the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) and the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC), serving as a white-label provider. This model allowed third-party brands to operate under MT SecureTrade's established legal and technical infrastructure, extending GiG's reach into the consumer market.

Strategic Divestment and De-risking

Starting in 2020, GiG initiated a major "de-risking" strategy. This involved selling its proprietary B2C brands, including Rizk and Guts, to the Betsson Group. This strategic move was prompted by an evolving regulatory landscape in Europe, where many countries transitioned to local licensing systems, rendering the older pan-European white-label model less viable. By 2022, MT SecureTrade had voluntarily surrendered its MGA and UKGC licenses and ceased all active gambling operations, effectively concluding its operational phase.

Regulatory Scrutiny and Dissolution

MT SecureTrade Limited faced significant regulatory scrutiny during its operational period. This included historical settlements with the UKGC and more recent fines from Malta’s FIAU (totaling approximately €53,000 in 2023) for anti-money laundering (AML) breaches occurring between 2018 and 2020. Most recently, in November 2023, a Maltese court approved the formal dissolution and winding-up of the company. This action was taken to shield the parent group from "grey market" legal claims, specifically historic loss recovery lawsuits from players in jurisdictions like Austria.

The dissolution of MT SecureTrade Limited definitively concludes GiG’s era as a direct operator. The entity now serves as a significant case study in how major iGaming groups manage corporate "clean-ups" to mitigate legacy legal risks while transitioning toward a pure-play technology and affiliate model.

Products & Services

  • White-Label iGaming Solutions

MT SecureTrade historically acted as the primary B2C (business-to-consumer) operator and white-label provider for GiG. It allowed partner brands to launch online casinos and sportsbooks using MT SecureTrade’s gaming licenses (such as MGA and UKGC) and infrastructure. This included handling compliance, payments, and customer support for external brands.
  • Online Casino & Sportsbook Operations

The company was the registered operator for several prominent proprietary and third-party gambling brands, most notably Rizk.com, Guts.com, Kaboo, and Thrills. Through these platforms, it provided end-users with a full suite of gambling products, including video slots, live dealer games, and comprehensive sports betting markets.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Management

As a licensed entity in multiple jurisdictions, a core part of its service was providing a "compliant umbrella" for gaming activities. This involved managing Anti-Money Laundering (AML) protocols, "Know Your Customer" (KYC) verifications, and social responsibility frameworks to ensure all hosted brands met the legal requirements of regulated markets like the UK and Malta.
