Senior Legal Advisor
PaynovateAs Senior Legal Advisor, you will take ownership of Paynovate’s legal and contractual framework, currently overseen by the Head of Compliance, and bring it fully in-house.
Today, part of the legal work is still distributed across teams and processes are not yet fully structured. Your role will be to progressively bring clarity, structure and ownership to this environment, while supporting the company’s growth in a regulated context.
You will not be stepping into an already established legal function, but into a role that requires building, prioritising and structuring progressively.You will act as a key partner to the business, combining hands-on legal work with involvement in strategic decisions.

Requirements
- Holds a Master’s degree in Law (or equivalent)
- Brings 5-10 years of experience in a legal role within the financial sector (fintech or payment services is a plus)
- Has a strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements
- Demonstrates a proven ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts
- Is experienced in setting up or improving legal or contract management processes
- Is comfortable operating autonomously as a standalone legal function
- Is resilient and pragmatic, with the ability to navigate an environment where structure is still being built
- Possesses excellent communication, negotiation, and writing skills: French and English; Dutch is a plus
- Has a structured, analytical, and business-oriented mindset
- Works collaboratively across teams and is comfortable navigating regulatory and operational complexity
Responsibilities
Legal Management
- Draft, review, and negotiate all types of contracts (clients, partners, suppliers, and services agreements), ensuring Paynovate’s interests are protected
- Provide pragmatic legal advice on new projects, partnerships, and business initiatives
- Review and validate legal documents proposed by external partners or providers
- Oversee NDAs and contractual documents requested by the Sales and Business Development teams
- Design and implement a contract management process (archiving, renewal tracking, monitoring)
- Manage and follow up on disputes and claims, ensuring proper communication and documentation
Structuring the Function
- Bring structure and consistency to legal practices across the organisation
- Define priorities and progressively build efficient processes adapted to a growing company
Procurement & Supplier Management
- Lead negotiations and contractual relationships with suppliers and external providers
- Support operational teams in defining requirements
- Ensure alignment between legal, operational, and regulatory requirements
Regulatory & Business Support
- Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments impacting the e-money and payment services industry
- Support the business in navigating financial regulations relevant to Paynovate’s activities
- Work closely with Compliance and leadership on regulatory topics
