This year marks a turning point for the global iGaming industry. Governments are tightening control, increasing taxes, and demanding local authorization instead of relying on offshore licenses. At the same time, several countries are opening new regulated markets, creating opportunities for operators prepared to adapt. In March, Finland formally approved its new Gambling Act and moved toward a locally licensed market. Applications open in March 2026. Licensed operators can launch in July 2027. Kazakhstan has introduced a 3.3% mandatory contribution on every bet accepted by bookmakers and tote operators. Unlike traditional profit-based taxes, this levy is applied directly to total turnover. This fiscal shift significantly increases the pressure on legal operators, as payments are due regardless of the bookmaker's net winnings..
